Sofia was born on october 13th in 1996 in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas where she grew up and spend her teenage years. Very early she came in contact with cinematography. At first by watching movies but the relationship and the love for cinema, visual arts and aesthetics got stronger and more intense with time and she eventually started to take courses and doing some projects in that field. At the age of 18 she moved to Mexico City to start her cinematography degree which she is still doing at the moment.
